Okra pachadi is an south Indian dish (it stands “okra yogurt” in Tamil). My grandmother lives in a lovely retirement community in the state of Tamil Nadu in India that serves AMAZING south Indian food. This time when I visited her, they served okra pachadi and so here I’ve adapted it and will share it below.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of okra
- 3 cups of A2 milk yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of mustard seeds
- 3 tablespoons of avocado oil
- 2 tablespoons of cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
- Heat up a pan.
- As soon as the pan heats up add the oil and the mustard seeds to the pan.
- As soon as the mustard seeds pop, add the cumin powder, chili powder, and salt to the pan and mix them well.
- Now add the okra to the pan and cook until the okra has softened and has infused well with the other ingredients in the pan (about 8 to 10 minuets).
- Let the mixture from the pan cool for about 5 to 8 minutes.
- Now put the yogurt in a bowl and whisk it well.
- Finally, add the okra mixture to the yogurt and mix everything well.
- Serve and enjoy this amazing pachadi.
